ABOUT ME
As an experienced storyteller for KEYC News 12 in Mankato, Minnesota, I enjoy meeting the community we serve. Some of my most memorable reports include a memorial service for a Fire Chief in Sanborn, Minnesota; a student's senior project bringing Patty Wetterling to her school; and a house fire where I witnessed the first responders rescue an unconscious woman from the second floor. I have grown as a reporter from my time in Mankato and enjoyed my time with such a great newsroom. As a Multi-Media Journalist I shoot, write, edit and produce engaging stories for the newscast and web. At KEYC we pride ourselves on local news and that's something I'm looking forward to bringing to my next station.
During college I was a morning producer with KCCI-TV News in Des Moines, Iowa. This has greatly expanded my ability to work under pressure, decide on newsworthiness, and write concise stories. I love getting to booth to ensure smooth and creative shows. Breaking news always kept me on my toes and every day was something different.
I interned with WCCO-TV News in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the summer of 2015. I was able to work with some of the legends I grew up watching, which was a an incredible experience. I had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented and creative people in the business. One of my favorite memories from my time with WCCO was on my second day I pitched a story idea that ended up leading the 5 and 6 shows. I went on stories with reporters and help them write scripts, vet information and find MOS. The biggest accomplishment of the internship was getting more experience with stand-ups and meeting deadlines.
During the spring of 2015 I interned for KCCI-TV News in Des Moines, Iowa. I experienced everything-- from getting to see how photographers think of their creative shots to enhancing my interviewing skills. I am fascinated by the whole process and absolutely love the hard work that goes into a unique package.
I was the School of Journalism and Mass Communications Student Senator during my junior year of college. I also participated in Drake Broadcasting System (DBS) and was a live reporter/line producer for the Drake Relays. I had my own radio show on 94.1 The Dog for three years through DBS. As an On-Field reporter for the Drake Relays, which is the largest student run telecast in the entire nation, I interviewed some of the greatest Olympian and collegiate athletes. I was so excited and honored to be a part of the production and get to be on the Blue Oval with some of the best in the country.
